"Residents Association complained vociferously that she

was paying the exhorbitant sum of $2,000.00 per calendar
" month for her accommodation. An inquiry into this
"complaint has elicited the following facts :-

(a) That she and her husband and 3 children occupy
3 fully furnished rooms (with service) in a
boarding house for the total accommodation charge

of about $900.00;
(b) The rest of her bill, e.g., for the month of
August last came to a sum of $900.00 divisible

About $600.00 for regular meals furnished
to her and her family; and

the way of aerated waters and extra items
₤18150 of food to a total of almost $300.00.
From the facts set out in the above-named petition,
"Your Excellency-in-Council will agree (it is respectfully
" submitted) that control is unnecessary and superfluous,
IT an infringement, in no way warranted, of the right to
"free trade in a British Colony, attendant with certain
"disastrous consequences to hotels and boarding houses

generally and to the economic structure of trade in this
"Colony as a sequel (apart from serious revenue lossess
"to Government) and Your Petitioners therefore respect-
fully seek Your Excellency-in-Council's intervention
" with a view to the total abolition of control.

Your Petitioners are further desirous of submitting
"to Your Excellency-in-Council the suggestion (since it
" is Government's desire to provide cheaper accommodation
" for permanent residents of this Colony other than that
